John has loved and followed jazz since he was in school. The go-to music of the time though was undoubtedly rock and roll.

 

John has presented jazz programmes for hospital radio, and when a new radio station opened he applied for a job. He was offered a jazz show while the regular presenter was on holiday which led to presenting a permanent jazz programme which ran for six years.

 

Since that time, thirty plus years ago, John has worked in both commercial radio and the BBC presenting a number of shows, but always jumped at the chance to present jazz shows.

 

He presented a regional big band and then a jazz show for the BBC and that ran for a combined total of around twenty years. He currently presents a jazz hour for online station, Serenade Radio.
