About the event
Composer and bass player Ursula Harrison was the winner of the BBC Young Jazz Musician 2024.
Alongside playing her own material, she has worked with a variety of large ensembles - recently
performing with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Great Britain, the JM Jazz World Orchestra (in
its tour of Italy, Croatia and Montenegro) and the Conservatorium van Amsterdam Jazz Collective
with Michael Mayo.
Sylvie Noble is a fast rising voice on the UK jazz vocal scene, performing at venues including Pizza
Express Soho and The Vortex. She combines fluent and experimental improvisation with evocative
and soulful melodies, pushing the boundaries of the genre. With influences such as Norma Winstone
and Carla Bley, her sound is steeped in sensitive honesty and captivating storytelling.
Since meeting on the vibrant South Wales jazz scene, they have frequently performed together and are
excited to be recording their debut album this summer.
