About the event
JJ Johnson is one of the greatest trombonists of all time - credited with bringing Bebop to the trombone and known as the Charlie Parker of the trombone.
Joe Bradford is an established trombonist in the Southwest, having studied in the USA with greats like Steve Davis and Elliot Mason. Joe possesses a warm, round sound, he plays with strong melodic and inventive bebop language.
The quintet also consists of:
Greg Sterland (tenor sax) - known for his strong melodies, creativity and unique tone.
Chris Jones (bass) - a highly in demand player who plays with a big warm tone, strong sense of melody and groove.
Dorian Childs-Prophet (piano) - an abundantly creative player, with a beautiful touch and infallible ear.
Paolo Adamo (drums) - one of the hottest drummers in the region, with unmatched language and groove in his playing.
The evening promises an exciting exploration of a wide variety of JJ Johnson's music.
