About the event
After graduating from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in 2023, Elijah has established himself as an up-and-coming artist in Welsh jazz, having collaborated with the likes of vocalist Claire Martin OBE, toured with Welsh-Jamaican vocalist Dionne Bennett and fronted big bands such as Capital City Jazz Orchestra in venues across the country.
After discovering a love for songwriting during the summer of 2020, Elijah released his debut EP, ‘One of Her Clowns’ in June 2023. The EP marks Elijah’s first foray into writing and releasing original music, fusing his love of jazz with soul, singer-songwriter and folk sensibilities. With rich harmony, guitar-led grooves, crooning vocals and moments of Randy Newman-like intimacy, the ‘One of Her Clowns’ EP weaves bittersweet tales of love lost and found.
Expect classics from the songbooks of Nat ‘King’ Cole and Mel Tormé, contemporary selections from the likes of Kurt Elling and Muse, as well as Elijah’s own writing from his debut EP and beyond.
