About the event
Jeremy Sassoon Sassoon is one of the UK’s most in-demand singer pianists. Either solo, or accompanied by his band, he captivates audiences with his natural, soulful voice, his charismatic personality and his arrangements of jazz, blues, groove and soul classics.
The Jeremy Sassoon’s Ray Charles Project has headlined Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, The Jazz Cafe, Pizza Express Live Soho, Wigan International Jazz Festival, Scarborough Jazz Festival and Manchester Jazz Festival.
The band made a spectacular appearance on the main stage at the 2019 Love Supreme Jazz Festival alongside, Jamie Cullum and Lauryn Hill.
The late, great Ray Charles produced an immense repertoire of memorable tunes spanning several decades, and singer/pianist Jeremy Sassoon reflects this with a set that includes Ray Charles classics, such as Georgia On My Mind, What I’d Say, I Gotta Woman and Hallelujah I Love Her So.
Expect to also hear some lesser known, but equally compelling musical gems from the catalogue - The Jealous Kind, I Don’t Need No Doctor, Hard Hearted Hannah.
The Ray Charles Project showcases the UK’s finest jazz blues and soul musicians and on the tonight's show, we welcome:
Jeremy Sassoon – vocals and piano
Billy Buckley – guitar
Jim Corry – sax
Jake Newman – bass
Phil Johnson - drums
